Genetic Diversity of Turmeric (Curcuma Longa) Accessions of Manipur

Abstract

Randomly amplified polymorphic DNA (RAPD) fingerprints of seven turmeric accessions were analyzed by polymerase chain reaction of genomic DNA using ten random decamer primers. Out of the ten primers screened, five primers generated fiftynine polymorphic and reproducible bands. The RAPD fragments were scored for presence or absence to calculate Jaccard’s similarity index. Clustering based on similarity index was done following unweighted pair group with arithmetic mean method (UPGMA) and a dendrogram was constructed
